Recent cultural and legislative developments include the passage of the Media Bill before the election. UKCCD secured a key amendment for children’s provision but criticizes the bill for leaving public service media (PSM) vulnerable to competition and lacking regulatory constraints on new providers. 

Additionally, UKCCD has submitted cultural priorities for the Labour Manifesto, emphasizing the safeguarding of BBC funding and independence, support for the independent film sector, regulation of AI and online services to protect creator and citizen rights, re-joining Creative Europe, and making cultural diversity central to industrial strategy.
