We share SAA’s (Society of Audiovisual Authors) position on the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA). The EMFA is essential to ensure that both public and private media can freely express opinions without government interference. However, it’s important to avoid legal uncertainties in the EMFA regulation. Cultural policy measures, such as local production/broadcast quotas, investment obligations and levies on streaming platforms, are vital for promoting creative works and cultural diversity, and should not be adversely affected by this regulation. Read SAA’s detailed position paper here.
